The Basics
This extremely hardy, evergreen shrub has dense, dark green foliage with great shearing potential. Uses China Boy Holly as its male pollinator and small, white flowers bloom in spring with bright red berries fall through winter. It grows up to 8-10 feet tall(6-8 feet wide). Ideally used as hedge, background, and accent plant. The Needs Amount of Sunlight: Full sun to partial shade Amount of Water: Water regularly; more frequent watering in extreme heat Soil Conditions: Prefers rich, moist, well-drained soil; Adapts to range of soils Cold Hardiness Zone: 4-9 The Care This low-maintenance evergreen needs a regular water schedule to ensure the growth of a mature root system. The first year of growth requires watering weekly. After the mature root system is established, watering is needed occasionally, except during a drought, watering is needed regularly. Once mature, shearing is recommended once per year, preferably in winter, to maintain desired shape. |
