|
LATIN NAME: CHINENSE VAR. RUBRUM ‘PLUM DELIGHT’
The Basics
This unique evergreen produces plum colored foliage that turns to green as it ages. Clusters of pink fringed flowers bloom profusely during winter and spring, and periodically throughout the rest of the year. This moderate-grower will reach 6-10 feet tall(4-6 feet wide). Its distinct coloration makes it perfect as an accent specimen, hedge, and grows well on slopes. The Needs Amount of Sunlight: Full sun to partial shade Amount of Water: Water regularly; more frequent watering in extreme heat Soil Conditions: Prefers rich, well-drained soil Cold Hardiness Zone: 7-9 The Care This low-maintenance evergreen needs a regular water schedule to ensure the growth of a mature root system. After the mature root system is established, watering is needed occasionally, except during a drought, watering is needed regularly. Pruning old foliage is recommended to maintain a well-groomed appearance. Mulch to prevent loss of moisture, deter weeds and moderate winter temperatures. |
