|
LATIN NAME: LOROPETALUM CHINENSE 'RED CHOCOLATE'
The Basics
This unique evergreen produces burgundy-red foliage that turns to green as it ages. Clusters of red, fringed flowers bloom profusely during winter and spring, and periodically throughout the rest of the year. This moderate-grower will reach 5-8 feet tall(5-6 feet wide). Its distinct coloration makes it perfect as an accent specimen, hedge, and grows well on slopes. The Needs Amount of Sunlight: Full sun to partial shade Amount of Water: Water regularly; more frequent watering in extreme heat Soil Conditions: Prefers rich, well-drained soil Cold Hardiness Zone: 6-9 The Care This low-maintenance, evergreen needs a regular water schedule to ensure the growth of a mature root system. After the mature root system is established, watering is needed occasionally, except during a drought, watering is needed regularly. Pruning old foliage is recommended to maintain a well-groomed appearance. Mulch to prevent loss of moisture, deter weeds and moderate winter temperatures. |
